“In the year 2003, I started again in production here,” Efrie says from MCAP's cosily furnished company canteen. “I was assembling both copper wire and fibre-optic cabling, with fibre-optic being much more critical than copper cable. All it takes is a speck of dust on the connector tip and the signal won't get through properly. Not all customers realise this. We therefore also recommend cleaning the connector tip again after removing the protective cap. Meanwhile, I have been assistant team leader for several years now, fully testing all cables and making sure they are packaged neatly. I also keep track of the periodic calibration of all tooling.”

Customer appreciation

“In production, we currently work here with 15 ladies. As assistant to team leader Rolf, I consult with him every morning about the planning, whether there are any rush orders, and whether all materials have arrived. By being on top of things, our delivery times are often extremely short, which our customers really appreciate. As a team, we therefore regularly receive cake treats from our customers.”

Approachable

“Our work is much more fun than most people often think. At MCAP, assembling cabling is very varied. There is also a nice working atmosphere and the working hours are good. And on Fridays, we are off at 3 o'clock in the afternoon. If there is anything, you can always go to someone. There is always a listening ear. Owners Martin, Corina and their son Niels just feel like colleagues and are accessible for everyone. It's nice and approachable here.”

Our standards are high

“As a team, we really like to do something for each other. So I am proud when we all successfully deliver another challenging project to the customer's satisfaction. However, we are critical of each other. I am responsible for testing the cabling, and if there’s an error in a cable, the person who made the cable has to correct it. That's how we keep each other on our toes and get even better. Our standards are therefore very high. This was confirmed when a number of newcomers took a soldering course via an external party. We ourselves were even more critical of the result than the course leader.”
