The Neutrik opticalCON DRAGONFLY connector is more robust, reliable and easier to maintain than common hybrid camera signal transmission systems. The lenses on the fiber optic connectors make them insensitive to dust and dirt. This ensures an extremely reliable signal and minimal attenuation.

DRAGONFLY for indoor and outdoor use

The opticalCON DRAGONFLY cables are not only intended for studio usage, but are also particularly suitable for outdoor use between the OB-truck and camera. When mated, the connection is waterproof according to IP68 and resistant to vibrations. The metal hybrid connectors contain 2 signal contacts, 2 power contacts, 1 ground contact and 2 optical XB2 connections.

The advantage of XB2

Because of the lenses in the XB2 connections, dust and dirt hardly affect the quality of the optical signal. This is due to the fact that the signal surface which is 322 times larger than physical contact surfaces. So UHD 4K and 8K signals are transmitted through the cable easily. Should the connector surface become contaminated, it can easily be cleaned with water and compressed air.

Harsh environment

The mechanically strong SMPTE hybrid cable has a strong PUR outer jacket, overall copper braided shield and a stainless steel strength member to absorb the tensile force. The assembly is therefore resistant to harsh conditions and extreme temperature fluctuations and requires little maintenance. The benefits at a glance:

  • Hybrid connection – power and data over one connection.
  • Low maintenance interval.
  • Easy switching to DRAGONFLY – fits into standardized cut-outs.
  • Easy cleaning with compressed air and water.
  • Competitive price.
  • Extremely robust system.
  • Reliable push/pull locking mechanism.
  • Dust and waterproof according to IP68.
  • Proven anti-kink boot design.
  • Long life – 10.000 mating cycles.
